Commercial Street retail refurbishment completes

A retail space in one of Leeds' busiest streets will soon be attracting prospective tenants following the completion of a refurbishment project.

The Silverstone Leeds office has been readying number 7 Commercial Street in the city centre for occupancy, after shoe chain Ecco gave notice.

Silverstone was initally appointed by landlord Eriah to manage a dilapidations claim and was subsequently instructed to undertake the refurbishment, the latest in a long line of recent successes for the firm, despite the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Leeds office was also monitoring surveyor on the development of five new industrial units at Barnsley’s Ashroyd Business Park, and worked on behalf of The Hanro Group on the sympathetic restoration of a historic office building on Piccadilly in central York.

Not only that, but the team completed a series of surveys to hangars and offices at Doncaster Sheffield Airport, structural repairs and car park refurbishments at Sheffield’s Meadowhall, and a series of surveys across a UK-wide portfolio of 20 properties on behalf of Mapeley Estates.

Ben Rennocks, director at Silverstone in Leeds said: “We are pleased to have completed works on this prominent city centre retail unit to refresh the premises and ultimately assist the landlord in securing a new tenant for the vacant space.

“Our team is doing well in very challenging times, having confirmed a significant number of instructions throughout Yorkshire and beyond for 2021.”

7 Commercial Street is a 2,115 sq ft retail property which is on the market to let through Leeds-based Central Retail.
