Silverstone expands Newcastle team

National chartered building surveyors and project managers, Silverstone Building Consultancy, has appointed two new surveyors to support the delivery of its north east building projects.

Nathan Courtier has been appointed as graduate building surveyor and Brad Tedstill has taken on a trainee building surveyor role.

Nathan will be involved in all aspects of building surveying with a focus on surveys, contract administration and project management with a view to progressing his Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) and becoming a chartered building surveyor.

Nathan, who was previously a trainee building surveyor at Day Cummins and a site manager at Courtier Construction, is nearing completion of a master’s degree in building surveying and is a 2016 Northumbria University under-graduate.

He said: “I was keen to join Silverstone because they cover a wide range of building services and, from my research, it was evident they are a reputable company nationwide so I’m thrilled to join the team.”

Brad - who is in the third year of a building surveying degree at Northumbria University and will be employed at Silverstone for 12 months, is supporting the whole team on dilapidations, contract administration and measured surveys.

Brad comments: “Silverstone has been kind enough to take me under their wing and it’s a great opportunity to put my learned theory into practice. So far, I’ve been involved in the project management of the UK’s first Passivhaus hotel and weekly progress checks on the development of the new Tynemouth Castle Inn as it reached completion.”

Lead director at Silverstone Building Consultancy, Richard Farrey said: “We take our responsibility to pass on our skills and experience to the next generation of surveyors really seriously and I’m pleased to see that Nathan and Brad have integrated into the team with ease and are already making a positive impact on our workload.”

Silverstone Building Consultancy is a firm of chartered building surveyors and project managers with offices in Leeds, Newcastle and London.
